The 16th Annual Caregiver Conference sponsored by AGE of Central Texas and the Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area (AAACAP) is scheduled to occur on Saturday, December 2, 2017. This free event for family caregivers is titled "Striking a Balance" and will be held at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, 6505 N. Interstate Highway 35, Austin, TX 78752 from 8:30 to 2 pm.
Come discover local caregiver resources, learn new skills, and connect with other caregivers and local experts on aging. The keynote speaker is Jane Meier Hamilton, CEO and Founder of Partners on the Path, LLC, which provides caregiver support programs to businesses that employ, and non-profits that support caregivers. A nurse for 40 years and family caregiver for 20, she has created research-based, resilience-building resources to help caregivers remain productive while working, and compassionate while caring.
Registration for the conference expires on November 27, or as long as seats remain. For assistance in registering, call (512) 916-6182.
Another resource for National Family Caregivers Month is information provided by the Caregiver Action Network (CAN), a nonprofit providing education, peer support, and resources to family caregivers across the country free of charge. The CAN website offers video tutorials, checklists, and articles to help family caregivers do their job effectively. The "Caregiving Around the Clock" handout links to resources and can be printed and shared widely with caregivers.
