Dr. Valerio currently serves as the Dean for Nursing & Allied Health at South Texas College and has over 20 years of providing leadership and academic guidance to faculty, staff, students, and nursing associations. He is currently overseeing 12 Nursing and Allied Health programs. He started at South Texas College in 2003 as faculty for the Associate Degree Nursing Program and in June 2011, became the Program Director. He then served as the Nursing Curriculum Course Reviewer for the State of Texas, a member of the Bioethics Committee at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, and Institutional Review Board member of Mission Regional Medical Center. Recently, Dr. Valerio was named as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Professionals in Texas given by the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce in Texas on October 18, 2019.
He has served in many nursing organizations such as Texas Nursing Team Coalition in Advancing the Nursing Profession, Texas Organization for the Associate Degree Nursing Programs, South Texas Organization for Nursing Leadership (STONL), Texas Nurses Association (TNA) local chapter, and past president of the Philippine Nursing Association of South Texas - Rio Grande Valley Chapter (2017-2019).
