Dr. Almasy serves as the Department Chair for Professional Nursing at Austin Community College where she oversees the Associate Degree and RN-to-BSN programs across three campuses. She has also served as a faculty of the Austin Community College for over 17 years. She earned her Baccalaureate degree in nursing from Ahwaz Medical Sciences University, Iran and obtained her Master’s and Doctorate in Nursing Practice degrees from the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing.
As part of her doctoral scholarly project, Dr. Almasy worked with the UT Center for Excellence in Aging Services and Long Term Care and Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Quality Monitoring Program, to develop and implement the Transition to Practice in Long Term Care Nursing Academy.
Dr. Almasy is a recipient of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational 2008 Teaching Excellence award. She served on the Texas Board of Nursing from 2012-2019 and currently serves on the Executive Board for the Healthcare Workforce Alliance of Central Texas.
