Sherry Norman Sybesma

Sherry's career has spanned the government, for-profit and nonprofit sectors.  She was a Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Logistics for a  U.S. subsidiary of a major Canadian company and has served as CEO or COO of nonprofits in Texas, Alabama, Washington and California.   As a manager with the City of Austin early in her career, Sherry was responsible for the city's arts programs, programs for people with disabilities and programs for seniors.  She negotiated with the State of Texas for the historic Lundberg Bakery on Congress to be transferred to the City for use as a senior program site.  She also was part of the team that planned and built the first City owned senior center on Lamar.

 

Sherry is a graduate of Austin College in Sherman, TX, and the Darden Business School Executive Program in Charlottesville, VA.  She has recently returned to Austin after 25 years away and currently is a Leadership Austin Fellow working with Capital IDEA on a project to address the nursing shortage in Central Texas.
